16 Months Since Open Heart Surgeries

Sixteen months ago was my Open Heart Surgeries. First one to replace the Aortic Heart Valve then four days later after the Cardiologist and the Thoracic surgeon noticing my heart did not have rhythm it was time to reopen me up and put in a Pacemaker. I was told by the Cardiologist and the Thoracic Surgeon that without the second surgery I would not have been able to live. Yes my life depends on this little medical device that can tell you all about me since they put in it, how amazing that is.
In the past 16 months yes I have been through allot, the dresslers Syndrome being the worse of all of it, due to the very unusually high temperatures I was running. Being admitted to the hospital so many times, oh I really think I lost count there. But now I am doing allot better. For yesterday Shiloh and I took a one mile walk, we did not set out to, but it was such a beautiful day out we just started walking and before we knew it we were almost at the HS, then I quickly turned around to look bak and thought to myself "OH MY THAT SURE IS A LONG WALK BACK" ! Honestly we were just going out for what I always told shiloh it is, a BABY WALK. I was amazed at how far we had walked. To be honest I do not think that Shiloh was so happy about walking that distance at all, how ever she did not complain or try to turn around and go back home. Finally we did turn around and walked the long walk back to the Little House In The Woods. Let me tell you this, walking back home sure did seem allot longer then when we first started our walk. But when we got home I called Mike, for I was so proud of myself for being able to walk that distance without taking any breaks of sitting down, for there was no place to sit unless you wanted to sit in the middle of the street. Yes it actually made me feel so very HAPPY again. A feeling of which I have not felt in quite a while. When Mike got home he told me he would prefer me not to walk that far with out him being with me, I just smiled and said O K. Well that was yesterday. Today Oh you Guessed it, I was back out there with Shiloh and we were walking again. as we turned the corner UTT OH there was Mike coming home a bit early, but we continued to walk about 3 more blocks then came home. Yes even that short walk, which is what we call a BABY WALK made me feel so good inside. I know tomorrow Shiloh and I will be out there again, at least until Thursday or Friday for on one of those days it will be very nice with some rather warm winds but, the Bad Thing for that day is the Temps will be around 90 degrees if not higher. So we will not be going on any long walk that day that is for sure. I know better than to do that.
The walking makes me feel great and that is what I must have really needed. Even though Mike and I do allot of walking when we go to the Flea Market and when we were on vacation. There was just something about that walk yesterday all by myself with Shiloh at my side walking one mile. NOW THAT TO ME IS A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT. I hope to do many more of those while the weather starts to cool down after Thursday and we are into Autumn. I guess I just want to keep walking with Shiloh right up until it gets too cold out to do so or if it is raining, for Shiloh dislikes the rain allot and I do not care for it that much either.
Yes I still have allot of discomfort at both surgical sites and the sternum, but I do not think that I helped it much by falling a few times, especially in July as I entered the E.R. with my head bleeding. I am just glad that I am finally on my own, doing something So Great as I am doing for MYSELF. No Wonder I am Smiling. It has been a long sixteen months with allot of obstacles but so far I have been able to cross over all of them and will continue to do so.
WELL THAT IS IT,I'M REBUILDING MY STRENGTH AND LEARNING WHAT HAPPINESS IS AGAIN. SORT OF LIKE MEETING MY OLD SELF GAIN ! Think I Like Her Too !
Oh I also changed my diet since I was able to start tasting food again, I do not eat meat at all, all summer I have been living on Romaine Lettuce, Blood Red Fresh Farm Grown Tomatoes, Squash, Salmon, Tuna, (Hot Pepper Cheese in the Salad.) I have mostly been eating salads every night that has tuna in it, the other nights oh yes it is Salmon, Talapia, or veggy burgers. Mike he still once in a while eats a steak here and there and other sorts of meat. Some times we will spoil ourselves by getting a White Extra Garlic Pizza, now that is a treat that I do love to indulge in. I do believe that changing my diet to what I am eating now has done well for me. I know it did for my HEART, I believe I hear it saying THANK YOU every now and again. Nothing is fried, mostly grilled out on the Bar-B-Q. Oh sometimes I do make baked Skinless Chicken surrounded with grape tomatoes and garlic OH SO GOOD.
Yes I Have Learned To Take Very Good Care Of My Self.
